"More Than A Game", the powerful and distinctive theme song for Channel Nine's top-rating program 'The Footy Show', features Chris Doheny's voice delivering the vocals.

Specifically recruited by the show's creators to perform the song, Chris has constantly received awards and accolades for his performance on this title.

Not surprisingly, due to the success of the show and of the song itself, it was later released as a single.

Back in 1994, before we had anything apart from a couple of vague ideas for the show, we had a song. It was 'More Than A Game', The Footy Show's theme tune, that has now been identified with the program for four years.

The show was still on the drawing board when Darren Sanicki, a friend and keyboard player with local Melbourne band Havana Moon, said he wanted to have a shot at writing a theme song. Within a week he had the foundations of 'More Than A Game', which was also released as a single and made it into the national Top 40 charts.

Chris Doheny was recruited to sing it. He was the lead singer with successful eighties group Geisha, and was playing with his band All The Young Dudes at pubs around Melbourne. Chris loved the song, and has since performed it a couple of times on the show - once with a band that included Red Symonds, and once in an 'unplugged' version at the opening of Jason Dunstall's nightclub, JD'S.
